Zakat Update

Since November last year, Glasgow Central Mosque has been working in partnership with the National Zakat Foundation (NZF) to distribute your Zakat locally.

Alhamdulillah, we are making a real difference right here in our own community, with over 200 people supported, and more than £80,000 distributed so far.

The GCM / NZF partnership is based on three key pillars:

1. 100% of your Zakat goes to the needy;
2. Zakat given via GCM is ringfenced for West Central Scotland, supporting those in Glasgow City, East & West Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, and North Lanarkshire;
3. Zakat is distributed through NZF’s Hardship Relief and Housing Fund, which helps those struggling to meet essential living costs.

Through your Zakat, we’ve been able to provide vital hardship relief providing carefully vetted and verified grants to help vulnerable Muslims families restore dignity, stability, and hope when it’s needed most.
