Eid Al-Fitr Announcement

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the Moonsighting Committee held a virtual meeting tonight to decide on Eid Al-Fitr 2020. We are pleased to confirm that all present have agreed that Eid Al-Fitr will be on Sunday 24th May 2020, In’sha’allah. This will mark the first day of Shawwal 1441 AH.

Sadaqah Al-Fitr (Fitrana) is Wajib (compulsory) upon all Muslims. This is £4 per person and should be paid before Eid.  Please refer to https://centralmosque.co.uk/zakat/ for details of how to pay.

We recommend the following on Eid Day:

DO
– Wake early for Tahajjud and Fajr
– Perform ghusl
– Wear your best available clothes
– Use Miswak and fragrance
– Eat something sweet
– Recite the following takbir softly

الله أكبر ، الله أكبر ، لا إله إلا الله ، والله أكبر ، الله أكبر ، ولله الحمد
– Perform Salah at home

DO NOT
– Go to the Mosque
– Visit family & friends in their home
– Gather outdoors in a group of 2 or more who are not from your household

Finally, we must keep the momentum which we have built up in Ramadhan going all year round with the support of Allah swt to keep us on the straight path. May Allah swt shower his mercy on the blessed day of Eid and may it be a new beginning of greater prosperity, success and happiness. Ameen

Jazak’Allah Khair
