Poverty Relief
Our Poverty Relief project supports over 200 service users, individuals and families, from across Glasgow, every week.
At least 150 food & essentials parcels are prepacked by volunteers, as well as a selection of items available for those who wish to pick what they need. We also deliver to 27 vulnerable service users.
The programme is a lifeline for many people who are destitute or don’t have access to services and we can only sustain it through the generous support of our community.
It is related from Ummul Mo’mineen Aishah رضي الله عنها from the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم; he said, “Indeed Allah does rear a date and a morsel as one of you rears His foal or calf until it (the date or morsel which has been donated) becomes like Mount Uhud.” (Saheeh Ibn Hiban in Targheeb)

Hypertension Awareness
Glasgow Central Mosque is pleased to continue working in partnership with the NHS, British Heart Foundation and University of Glasgow to raise awareness about Hypertension.
High blood pressure (Hypertension) is a common condition that affects a significant number of adults. If left untreated, it can lead to serious health problems. 1 in 3 adults require treatment for high blood pressure at some point in their lives.
This Friday 17th May, from 11.30am to 3pm, there will be stands in both the men’s and women’s foyer areas within Glasgow Central Mosque.
Come along and have your blood pressure measured. We encourage all to participate.

Wudhu Area Refurbishment
By the grace of Allah swt, the refurbishment of both Wudhu areas is now complete. We thank you for your patience during the works.
The men’s wudhu area has gone through a complete overhaul with the project undertaken by a reputable contractor, having worked with the Scottish Government and national supermarkets.
The redesigned floorplan in both the male and female wudhu areas was chosen through detailed consultation with a leading architect who oversaw the projects. The materials selected were of the highest standards with Porcelain tiles and Quartz carefully selected direct from Italy, and single lever taps made bespoke in Germany.
The completed works has resulted in a fit for purpose ablution area with an increased capacity to cater for our growing congregation.
We invite you all to visit your new look wudhu areas at Glasgow Central Mosque.
May Allah swt accept the efforts of all those who contributed to this project. And make our Masjid a source of blessing for the entire city and beyond.

When will I’tikaf begin?
I’tikaf will begin at Maghrib on Saturday 30th March (the night of 21st Ramadhan) In’sha’Allah.
Sisters can dedicate an area/room at home where they may remain for their I’tikaf. Read more in our I’tikaf guidance for women.
What is I’tikaf?
“To confine oneself in a mosque for prayers, invocations and Ibadah, leaving the worldly activities for a limited number of days”
I’tikaf is a Sunnah of our beloved Prophet ﷺ. It is related on the authority of our mother Ayesha (RA) that:
“The Apostle of Allah ﷺ observed I’tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadhan, until the end of his life. After his death, his wives continued with it.” – Bukhari and Muslim.
The purpose of I’tikaf is to seek a favourable environment in which one can get closer to Allah (SWT). This confinement and devotion distances preoccupations with worldly life; allowing one to attain inner composure, serenity and focus purely on the greater eternal reality. The aim being to reach a state of mind whereby all fears, hopes and apprehensions are superseded by love, devotion, and remembrance of Allah (SWT).
May Allah (SWT) accept our fasting, prayers and worship during this blessed month.
