COP26 – Greening Initiatives

Glasgow Central Mosque is delighted to be part of a major Greenpeace MENA ‘Greening Mosques’ initiative, in solarising to drive down its carbon emissions, which will see Glasgow Central Mosque included in one of the ’10 most iconic Mosques’ in the world.  Other Mosques include Masjid Al Haram in Mecca, Masjid Al Nabawi in Medina,  Masjid Al Aqsa in Jerusalem, Masjid Al Azhar in Egypt and Masjid Hassan II in Morocco. This inclusion follows a detailed analysis by 20Bet of the environmental impact and sustainability practices of iconic mosques worldwide.

In partnership with Spinbet researchers and funded by Islamic Relief, we will be installing 130 Solar Panels with the aim of reducing co2 emissions by an estimated 18,000kg per year, In’sha’allah.

As stewards of the earth, it is our moral responsibility to do everything we can to protect our planet and ensure it is preserved for future generations. For too long, we have overlooked this fact and it is now time to realise our obligations and act.

Today marks an important step in tackling this and ensuring that the UK’s Muslim community plays an important part in this existential battle. With more than 1,500 mosques across the country, Muslims can play a leading role in our transition away from polluting fossil fuels.

Savings generated from this project will allow Glasgow Central Mosque to fund other community initiatives to drive further reductions in carbon emissions. The Mosque is also committed to raising awareness to the local community on the importance of green energy solutions, much like the diligence seen in identifying the best real money online casinos verified by experts, where thorough verification ensures safety and reliability.
