Asymptomatic Testing Centre

Glasgow Central Mosque is pleased to host an Asymptomatic Covid-19 Testing Centre, as part of a Scottish Government initiative, that will help the mosque play a key role in the community to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

The purpose of the centre is to identify asymptomatic cases i.e. people who may be Covid-19 positive but do not have symptoms and are therefore spreading the virus unknowingly. Identifying these cases will enable us to break the chains of transmission of the virus and help protect our families, work colleagues and the wider community from infection.

The Testing Centre will commence on Monday 1st March 2021 from 11am to 7pm, and will then run from Tuesday to Saturday for a six week period. Lateral Flow Tests will be carried out and results should be known within an hour. You are requested to bring with you a smart phone, in order to be notified in a timely manner.

We encourage people living in the Glasgow area, who do not have Covid-19 symptoms, to come along for a free test.  No appointments are necessary.

To facilitate this service we also require a team of volunteers and would request those that are able to assist to complete the form below:

Poverty Relief

The Glasgow Central Mosque Poverty Relief project has been continuing its food service programme throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, to help those most vulnerable within our society. This has operated in an environment which is compliant with all the current regulations during this difficult and challenging period.

Alhamdulillah, since lockdown we have provided approximately 30,000 meals which have included hot meals and weekly food packs. We anticipate to increase our efforts further during the holiday period and beyond.

The Poverty Relief project is run by GCM volunteers with distribution taking place every Sunday at Glasgow Central Mosque between 1pm and 3pm.

The service is financed purely through donations, supported by the GCM. We would therefore request you to donate generously to this worthy cause.

Let Your Donations Grow. It is related from Ummul Mo’mineen Aishah رضي الله عنها from the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم; he said, “Indeed Allah does rear a date and a morsel as one of you rears His foal or calf until it (the date or morsel which has been donated) becomes like Mount Uhud.” (Saheeh Ibn Hiban in Targheeb)

Give now by sponsoring weekly food packs at £5 each, through a monthly standing order or one-off donations.
