GCM Progress report 2016-2018

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

In the name of Allah; the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Tomorrow’s Annual General Meeting in Glasgow Central Mosque (GCM) will signal the end of this Executive Committee’s term in office.

Attached is the Progress report: a short summary of the work we’ve been involved in this term.

It’s a privilege to have been able to serve Allah swt’s house and the community. All good is from Him and we pray He and the community forgive any shortcomings.

Bike Shelter

We are pleased to announce that we now have bike storage facilities at GCM.

The new bike shelter, which can store up to 20 bikes, has been installed as part of The Future is Bright project.

We want to encourage as many people as possible to cycle to GCM which will help reduce our carbon footprint.

Blood Donation

At the turn of the year, the blood banks are usually low and poor weather can make the situation even worse. Every minute of every day, someone is receiving a blood transfusion. Just three teaspoons of blood can save the life of a premature baby. NHS Scotland and Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service were invited to relieve our congregation of a pint of juice apiece.

This was a community and interfaith event, and people from the surrounding area and offices also donated their blood. These were people of faith, and perhaps no faith. All shared a common purpose; to save lives on the grounds of humanity and compassion.

“And whosoever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of mankind”. (Quran 5:32)
